How to - exterior painting

Exterior House Painting

December 19, 2009 by affordableremodeler | Edit

Before you paint the exterior of your house you need to prep first. Your final painting finish is only as good as your prep work. First, your house needs to be pressure cleaned first, using a mild house cleaner to remove any mildew, algae, or any ground in dirt. Secondly, you need to seal all settling cracks around the house, windows, and doors, using and elastomeric sealer. That type of sealer will stretch and contract with the heat and cold to prevent cracks from reappearing again. Then you need to scrape any loose paint on the surface around the home. After that, you need to at least prime the areas that you scraped. It's preferable that you prime the exterior completely, but not necessary depending on the condition of your home. If there was chalking present before you pressure washed the home, then it is imperative that you prime the exterior entirely. Then you are ready to begin painting. Note, use a paint that is 100% acrylic on your house. We will cover painting your home after you have prepared it in the next post. In the meantime if you have any questions please feel free to contact us. http://www.affordableremodeler.com

Painting green, while saving some green in 2009, the Affordable Painting way

In 2009 interior painting trend is hugely influenced by the call to fight pollution and global warming and reflects social sustainability in a highly urbanized environment. A peaceful ambiance can be achieved even if you are living in the midst of the bustling urban jungle through a touch of organic. This scheme can create a refreshing look to your interior with the delightful potpourri of hues found in a garden. The palette of mid-tone colors is composed of hues where yellow, rich brown and greens are dominant. To top the look and give your interior a distinctive quality, infuse bronze and copper precious metals that signify elements of the earth. If you want to paint the whole house or just a couple of rooms to get started, we are on the job. A new coat of paint will brighten up an old, dreary den or give your kitchen a fresh look. If you want to give your kitchen a brand new look, we also do kitchen and bathroom remodeling. From new cabinets and granite counter tops to tile flooring and new fixtures, we will create a beautiful new space that is right for you and your budget.
